About Restoration & Renewal Series 2026
(A Study of Eight Minor Prophets)
While Monday’s class is focusing on Kings without the Prophets, this Thursday series takes on the Minor Prophets without the Kings—but don’t be fooled by its label. Minor in reference, but worthy of major deference.
Journey with Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, and Zephaniah—prophets who sometimes even embodied God's messages to His people. Their words reveal God’s mercy, justice, holiness, wrath, and above all, His longsuffering love. Be encouraged that our sovereign God, who “will neither slumber nor sleep” (Psalm 121:4), is always at work among His people.
These short books pack a prophetic punch—both foretelling and forth‑telling: confronting sin, exposing injustice, and announcing judgment—yet always pointing to God’s relentless love and His astounding promises of future restoration and renewal to His undeserving people (hint: harlotry!).
Yes, there will be exasperating, hair‑pulling moments of repeated narratives (hint again: go figure why!). But hang on the edge of your seat—because in the midst of confrontation and suffering, in the calls to repentance, you’ll behold the promises of restoration. And most of all, every message ultimately points us forward to Christ Jesus—the Saviour we desperately need, and the only One who fulfills every hope.
🙋🏻🙋🏻♀️ What About Me?
We never live our Christian lives as fully as we are called to. Yet the prophets remind us that our God of second chances sees our failures as His children but never abandons us. In His lovingkindness, He calls us back, restores what is broken, and renews our hope.
Just as Israel clung to the promise of a coming Messiah and future restoration, we now live in and through a Living Hope—our Lord Jesus Christ.
Don’t dismiss these ‘ancient’ words—they still speak directly into modern humanity and faith struggles, reminding us that while God’s justice is real, His mercy is greater still.”
💌 Come join us for this MUST‑STUDY, “not‑so‑minor” journey.
Be ready to be challenged, comforted, and renewed as together we discover what it means to walk in the light of God’s justice, mercy, and unfailing love.
RESTORATION and RENEWAL are not just themes of the prophets—they are the heartbeat of the gospel. And they all lead us to Christ, the ultimate Hope and the God of second chances.
Series Outline / Schedule
A study of eight "minor" prophets. One unchanging God. Countless reminders that though judgment is real, His mercy is greater still. This is a must‑study for every follower of Christ.

Synopsis
Micah — Hope in the Shepherd King ⬅️ You are here Micah’s famous call—act justly, love mercy, walk humbly—still challenges us today. He points us to the Shepherd King who brings peace, justice, and lasting hope.
Hosea — Love That Won’t Let Go Step into the raw, heartbreaking story of a prophet who lived out God’s message: faithful love poured out on an unfaithful people. Hosea reminds us that even when we wander, God’s love relentlessly pursues us.
Nahum — Justice and Comfort Nahum proclaims God’s judgment against cruel oppressors, but also His comfort for the faithful. It’s a reminder that God sees injustice and will not let evil have the last word.
Zephaniah — Warning and Rejoicing Zephaniah warns of the Day of the Lord, but also sings of God’s joy over His people. Judgment and mercy meet here, pointing us to a God who both refines and rejoices over us.
Habakkuk — Faith in the Questions Habakkuk wrestles honestly with God about suffering and injustice. His journey ends with trust: “The righteous will live by faith.” A prophet for anyone who has ever asked “why?”
Obadiah — Pride Brought Low In the shortest book of the Old Testament, Obadiah declares that pride always collapses. But even in judgment, God is faithful to restore His people and secure their future.
Joel — Renewal After Ruin From locust plagues to promises of the Spirit, Joel shows that repentance opens the door to restoration. God doesn’t just patch up the broken—He pours out His Spirit to bring new life.
Amos — Justice as Worship Amos thunders against empty religion and calls for justice to roll like a river. True worship isn’t just songs and rituals—it’s living with integrity, compassion, and righteousness.
