How can we, as Christians, navigate the complexities of the contemporary world characterized by Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity (VUCA)?  Is the Bible still applicable in today’s culture and knowledge landscape, which differ significantly from the world of the Old Testament or the early church?  What insights can we mine from the Bible that can guide us in this VUCA environment?

We have carefully hand‑picked two devotional books to embark on this journey with you, exploring this challenging topic through a biblical lens. Together, we will glean wisdom from the early church and uncover nuggets of truth that show us how to not only navigate the Christian life, but also stand firm amidst the chaos of modern society shaped by VUCA‑ism.

A Journey Through the Acts of the Apostle

"THE HOLY SPIRIT UNLEASHED IN YOU"

 In this study, we will embark on a journey through the scriptures to glean wisdom from the early church, which were confronted with the same VUCA challenges. We will uncover nuggets of truth that had enabled them to navigate their uncertain world.

We will begin our exploration through the Acts of the Apostles, where we witness the transformative arrival of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.  This event thrusts an unprepared group of ordinary individuals into an extraordinary mission.  As they stepped into their VUCA world, marked by political tensions and religious structures that were resistant to change, the disciples discovered how God’s power thrived amidst the chaos.  They learned, through the empowering of the Holy Spirit, to establish rhythms of ongoing encounter and exploration, enabling the nascent church to adapt to the changing circumstances and cultivate resilience that transcended the fragile systems of their time.
