  • Why Study the 40-Minute Study Series

The 40-Minute Study Series We could write an essay on the 40-Minute Study Series but nothing beats hearing from the author herself--Kay Arthur. Her timeless message transcends time and is relevant even today. People are finding the answers to life through the 40 minute studies. The power is there because Jesus said the words that I speak, they're spirit and they're life. They are not studying the words of man. They're studying the words of God. Watch the original footage or read the transcript below. The 40-Minute Study Series by Kay Arthur Transcript We are living in very critical times, and I know I don't need to tell you that, but I will tell you this that people need to discover truth for themselves, because God promises in His Word that he has given us everything, everything that pertains not only to life, but also to godliness, so that we might be fitted for every good work, so that nothing can come our way and throw us. This is why God laid on my heart to write the 40-Minute Bible studies. They've taken off not only here in the United States of America, but all over the world. Ministries international is in 150 countries in 70 different languages, and the 40 minute series are revolutionizing lives. And I'll tell you why. It brings a person face-to-face with what God has to say on particular subjects. How Do You Know God's Your Father? How to Live Victoriously? How to Handle Temptation What to Do About Your Sexuality? What Does the Future Hold? Money, Possessions? -- The Quest for Contentment. Every topic that is so essential for men and women to have answers to is being covered in this 40-Minute series. And the thing that makes it so awesome is it does not require homework. For those that say that they are too busy, that they don't have time to study on their own, they will sit down for 40 minutes. Anyone can lead a 40 minute study. How do you walk the walk? You talk. And they can lead it because they are told exactly what to do. All they have to do is be able to read you, read the text. The people have their own book, they mark the text, and as they mark the text, all of a sudden God is doing a work in their lives because the only text that they are looking at is the Bible, which is alive and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword. It's a discerner of the thoughts and intense of the heart. It is a light unto our path. It's the very word by which we live. It's the. It's the sword by which we stand against the enemy. It's all about the armor that protects us in difficult days. And what's happening with these books is people are opening them. They've said, "I've never studied the Bible this way!" "I've never seen truths for myself!" And then they sit there and they discuss this. It's happening in Sunday school classrooms. It is happening in small group Bible studies. It is happening one on one at lunches. Men are using them in early morning Bible studies. It is happening with teenagers. People are finding the answers to life through the 40-Minute studies. The power is there because Jesus said the words that I speak, their spirit and their life, the they are not studying the words of man. They're studying the words of God. And I just would urge you, I would urge you to pray and ask God, God, show me. Lead me to someone. It might be your family for family devotions. It might be your youth group and sit down and go through this study. You can use it at a weekend conference. You can use it over a six week period. But it will literally, literally transform lives. And I'll tell you why. It's the Word of God. And when the Word of God is taught, the Spirit of God takes that word and His Word does not return to him void. The 40-Minute Bible studies.

  • January 2025 Newsbyte: Creation Symposium, D4Y Workshop & Young Adults Classes

I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. - Psalm 9:1-2 We are brimming with joy and gratitude as we bring you our praise newsbytes of the past month! Dive into the highlights from our recent exhilarating Creation Symposium, the dynamic D4Y Workshop, and the encouraging commencement of our Young Adult (YA) classes. Rejoice with us in thanksgiving to our faithful Lord God Almighty for His incredible hands on our ministry! Creation Symposium 2025 Unveiling Creation: Where Science Meets Faith and We’re Glad We’re Not Apes 18 January 2025 @ Precept Singapore A sight to behold--a full house of participants! In the wink and blink of an eye—without any bling—our much-anticipated Creation Symposium has come and gone. We rejoice and give thanks for the 130 people who joined us as Dr. Tjin expounded on the fascinating and curious topic of Creation. Emphatically quipping “As a scientist…,” he dished out a wealth of scientific data and arguments—distinguishing theory from hypothesis, discussing potassium, carbon dating—and drawing chuckles from the youths in our midst over protons, neutrons, and electrons. The enthusiastic responses from the audience also drew a Cheshire cat grin of approval from Dr. Tjin. Gawking at the 68-page slide deck that Dr. Tjin generously gifted post-conference, this non-scientific someone wouldn't even attempt to articulate the treasure trove of knowledge he imparted. However, the case study of Mount Saint Helens did leave a lasting impression. Oh, and let's not forget the emphatic repetition of “I'm glad I'm not an ape.” Us too! The tricky part of any conference is the Q&A session; you can never predict the response. It warmed our hearts to witness the spontaneity and engagement, making us realize more time should have been allocated. Yet that didn't stop enthusiastic participants from engaging with Dr. Tjin during the tea break and afterward, while others shopped for books in the other room. Yes, we had a book sale that day too! Informative and filled with much learning! The consensus among those who dropped us a note of thanks and those we asked was that it was “ informative and filled with much learning .” Indeed, it was a blessed time. We extend our sincere gratitude to our speaker, Mr. Tjin Swee Chuan, and give all praise to our awesome God for this time of learning and community gathering. In the grand tapestry of creation, we're constantly reminded of the divine wisdom and power that fashioned the universe. Every scientific discovery is a testament to God's unfathomable creativity and the intricate design of His creation. His intelligent design. WATCH: Creation Symposium 2025 - An Excerpt What's Next? A faint whisper of " End Times Prophecy Through Biblical Lens ," slated for July 2025, tremors through the walls of Precept Singapore. Yes, you heard it here first! Keep your eyes peeled for more details—exciting times are ahead! D4Y | Discover4Yourself Workshop Rooted in His Word, Nurturing Faith in Our Children 17 January 2025 @ Precept Singapore The 'graduating' class of D4Y January 2025 Creation Symposium was not the only exciting event that graced us in January. Glory be to God for the successful run of our D4Y workshop that occurred just the day before! Eleven participants delved into the depths of our D4Y material, learning how to teach children to study the Bible inductively, and enjoyed a time of fellowship over a char siew and chicken rice lunch. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our D4Y trainers, Mimi Voo and Lena Goh, for their dedication—not only in teaching others but in their passion for the next generation. They continually hone and craft the workshop to equip Sunday school teachers, parents, and grandparents to nurture children in the ways of the Lord through His infallible Word. In a world where technology serves as both nanny and teacher, the traditional arts of reading and doodling are fading. Amidst the stress of academic competition, online media wields immense power in shaping our children's worldviews. This issue transcends borders—it's a global challenge. And seriously, when our government acknowledges a problem and comes up with guidelines, you know it's a sign of brewing trouble and imminent danger. So here’s our call to action! Join us for our next D4Y session on 4th April 2025—a special session crafted by our trainers specifically for parents and grandparents.  Let's ensure that our children grow up rooted in God's Word, ready to face the world with discernment and faith. Together, we can make a profound impact on the next generation, safeguarding their hearts and minds in these challenging times. Let us rise to the occasion and train up our children in the way of the Lord, so that when they are old, they will not depart from it—for His glory. Of Jonah and the whale, from the hands of the little ones... Our Young Adults (YA) Classes Have Begun Embracing a New Season of Spiritual Growth Praise the Lord for the smooth commencement of all our Young Adult (YA) classes! We rejoice for the newcomers among us and those resuming their Precept Bible study journey. We are deeply thankful for the regulars who faithfully continue to journey with us We kickstarted the year with three classes: the 40-Minute “The Power of Knowing God” on Tuesday evenings, the 40-Minute “Loving God and Others: The True Heart of Faith,” and Precept Upon Precept® (PUP) 1, 2, 3 John on Wednesday evenings. How wonderful it is to see a young adult in our midst step up to co-lead the Tuesday evening class. We are also grateful for our dedicated Wednesday leader who will continue to facilitate the 40-Minute Study Series, as long as we have participants—God willing.   This past week, we witnessed the launch of the PUP Philippians class on Monday evenings and the New Inductive Series Studies (NISS) on Thursday evenings. Praise the Lord! We marvel at the intriguing phenomenon of class enrollments: some classes with promising numbers at the start become stagnant, while others with initially low enrollment saw a spike on the last week before classes began. Perhaps, as Jesus said, "the last will be first." 😂   Through it all, we give thanks to the Lord for the 44 Young Adults who are committing their time to engage in God’s Word. We seek your prayers for meaningful engagement, good time management, a fruitful time of learning together in God’s Word...and perseverance. May the Lord bring more Young Adults to join us in our classes.   As for those who have yet to sign up, it is never too late to begin or continue your Bible study journey. Trust that it’s God’s perfect timing for you! Consider joining our next season of YA classes starting in March 2025: We give thanks and pray for those who have commenced or are commencing their Precept studies for the year, that they will be richly impacted and deeply engaged in the Word—by the renewing of their minds. Then they will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing, and perfect will (Romans 12:2b). With this, we bid you adieu until our next update. In the midst of political turmoil and natural disasters, let's keep the affected nations in our prayers. The call to know Jesus is urgent, and we pray that more will come to know Him personally through His Word. 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" - John 14:6 Support Precept Singapore Bless our ministry with a kind donation that we may continue to serve you and others through His Word. Your support will also aid our regional outreaches. We thank you deeply and ask that you keep our ministry in your prayers, not only for our funding but also that we may continue to be a vessel bringing others closer to God through His Word.

  • March Newsbyte Part 1: Rekindling the Joy of Community Learning and Fellowship.

"At the heart of our workshops, our convictions stood firm: rekindling community learning and fellowship. And even more so—to discover the joy of reading and expounding Scripture inductively." All glory to our awesome and faithful God, whose marvelous hands have been upon our ministry—we are brimming with updates! This post took a slight detour as we launched our End Times Symposium , which—PRAISE THE LORD—sold out in just 6 ½ days! In the midst of it all, new classes have begun, and more workshops have taken place. Blessings abound! To keep things digestible, we’ll be breaking our Newsbytes  into smaller bites, tackling each update one at a time. Without further ado, here’s a look at the first two workshops that have come and gone— How to Plan and Lead PUP Lessons  and our newly launched Weekend in the Word ! PREPARING LEADERS TO NURTURE FAITH AND INSPIRE OTHERS IN GOD'S WORD How to Plan and Lead Precept Upon Precept Lessons (PLPUP) 27 & 28 March 2025, In-Person @ Precept Singapore I am still awake. Now, that's a testimony. - 2 anonymous participants Now. That got a particular listener in stitches and nodding in vehement agreement, having been a beneficiary of Stephen Lim's "How to Lead" workshops. Stephen's mastery in delivery and engagement, developed over two decades, comes to life in his dedication to refining each workshop, keeping it both fresh and experiential. His approach includes mixing up the PUP materials and integrating practical exercises, ensuring that participants transform from mere listeners into active doers of their learning. We had a good group, many of whom were new to PLPUP. They were eager to learn and willing, with good participation. The training also helped them better understand the Precept inductive Bible study methodology. - Stephen Lim, trainer All praise and glory to the Lord! We had 13 participants, including 9 newcomers . 🎉 Fun fact: not everyone who attended was ready or compelled to be a leader. While Precept continually calls for more leaders to rise up for the next generation, the workshop welcomes anyone who is curious or wants to equip themselves in the art of inductive Bible study. PLPUP is a hidden gem—an "essential skill" that flies under the radar. And who knows? When God calls you to lead, the skill may be hidden in the safe but ever-ready to be deployed! To sum up, the participants' chatter highlighted the following key feedback about the training: Scribbles on the wall? A doctor's methodical prescription of structuring a PUP lesson. Helpful and refreshing. Well-run and well-led. Learnt how to ask questions in leading discussions. Learnt how to flow from one topic to another effortlessly. Discovered new ways to lead discussions with a good flow. Gained new understanding and insight into the Precept Inductive Bible Study methodology. Concise and clear structure in leading—useful. “Should do this before doing homework!” one participant quipped. Missed this workshop? Don't worry—you can join our online PLPUP workshop in July! If you're considering coming back for a refresher, you're always welcome! You never know which PUP material Stephen will select for the training GETTING BACK TO THE HEART OF PRECEPT INDUCTIVE BIBLE STUDY Weekend in the Word (WITW) | PUP Daniel Part 1, Lesson 1 29 March 2025, In-Person @ Precept Singapore Participants hard at work... with two empty 'hot seats' strategically placed in the middle? 😏 Late last year, a murmur began about this curious workshop called Weekend in the Word (WITW) . Hearsay, there were such gatherings in days gone by--except it wasn't called WITW. Back in days gone by (again), Precept classes were in-person—that was the norm. To meet the need of THAT moment in history, virtual meetings has become the new way of life. As undeniably convenient as they are, they simply cannot replace the impact of face-to-face engagements and fostering of relationships. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together , as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. - Hebrews 10:24-25 Rekindling the Joy of Community Learning and Fellowship At the heart of this workshop, our convictions stood firm: rekindling community learning and fellowship. And even more so—to discover the joy of reading and expounding Scripture inductively. Like the two disciples on the road to Emmaus exclaimed, " Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us? " That, dear friends, is our desire. That through inductive Bible study, Scripture comes alive and becomes powerful for you—igniting a longing in your heart each time you open it. Most of all, to fully embrace inductive Bible study, it is essential to understand its methodology. At its core, our mission at Precept Singapore is about engaging people in a relationship with God through knowing His Word—to know God deeply. Live differently . Breaking Through the Time and Screen Barrier I survived the 9 to 5 session! The idea of a full-day, in-person workshop—completing an entire Lesson One  of any given PUP course—seemed daunting at the start and hush-hush jibes flew across Zoom screens. But praise be to the Lord, we had a wonderful turnout of 25 participants! And after months and moons of knowing some of the participants only through virtual space, meeting in person felt almost like a blind date—time to lift the veil! Most embarrassingly, there were moments of screen-to-real-life identity confusion… but what’s a reunion without a little comic relief—this clown hopelessly excelling at recognition blunders? 🫣 Self-deprecating jokes aside, we heard cheerful quips from the Young Adults as the day progressed: "I survived 9 to 5! not as bad as I thought it would be!" Fascinating debates added spice to the discussions, active participation in Q&A, and—most of all—the much-missed presence of real people not hidden behind black screens and muted mics,  the day of fellowship was a true blessing. "The workshop went well. We had good participation and many good questions raised." — Stephen Lim Scripture guides you toward God. Precept guides you through Scripture. All praise to our Lord again that indeed it went well. Weekend in the Word  was more than just a workshop—it was a reminder that studying Scripture, when done in fellowship, isn’t a task but a joy.  I am happy to see the result. The participants picked up the reasoning process. When class participation is low, it’s often because people don’t know how to do the homework. Without proper understanding, there’s no joy in reading the Bible and doing the homework. And where there’s no joy, there’s no application." — Grace Lim They said… No WITW workshops are scheduled for the rest of this year. But before we bid our adieu, we leave you with some wonderful feedback from our participants! Click right arrow to read the next feedback Next up: Our interview with our D4Y trainers, Mimi Voo & Lena Goh For our next Newsbyte , we’ll bring you an exciting report on D4Y | A Special Session for Parents and Grans . We’ll delve into their passion for teaching children to study the Bible inductively, explore how the trainings have evolved over the years, and may unveil a new plan in the pipeline. Keep your eyes peeled for updates! Before you go... Please consider supporting Precept Singapore! As a non-profit ministry, we are sustained by freewill donations and, in part, by the nominal proceeds from our study materials. Your generosity helps cover essential costs, translate resources into other languages, expand regional outreach, and equip churches and study groups—helping more people engage in a transformative relationship with God through knowing His Word. No amount is too small—as little as $10 a month can make a lasting impact.

  • A Year in Review: Grace Through Valleys and Peaks

As we embrace the Advent season, we remember the birth of our Saviour, the Word who was in the beginning. With familiar carols resonating, we are filled with gratitude for the wondrous works upon our ministry throughout this enthralling year. All praise and glory to God for what was, what is, and what is to come. Because He is, thus we are. Grace through Valleys and Peaks: 2024’s Journey 2024 is a year we will look back on fondly as a time of bungee jumping while watching the stock market. That’s the exhilaration of serving the Lord—diving into the unknown with trust and a bit of stomach-churning excitement. The outcome is His to behold. Truly, truly, no one, no, not one, can tell or even know what was coming our way. But isn't that part of the fun? Praise God for the surprises! Our Regional Outreach Our journey began in 2000, and over the past 24 years, our reach has expanded to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, and, as of 2023, Indonesia. In 2018, we also played a crucial role in assisting our participants in Australia when they reached out for help to be trained. Whenever there’s a cry for help or a request for training in the region, we are there, ready to support. Vietnam: A Story of Willingness A noteworthy highlight is Vietnam. The word that stood out was “willing.” Their hunger for studying the Bible and their willingness to commit time to homework assignments was inspiring. Despite initial apprehensions among the young adults in leadership training, they embraced the challenges thrown at them during their “How to Plan and Lead PUP Lessons” workshop in November. Cambodia: A Beacon of Growth Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6 Another bright spot is Cambodia. We are grateful for Tanya Aderman, an American missionary proficient in Khmer, who acts as an interpreter during our training sessions. For those who attended Precept 30 last year, you might have seen her grace the stage with video footage of Cambodia's testimonies. Precept classes in Cambodia have grown exponentially, with combined classes, outreach to orphanages, dormitory ministry to university students, and translating 40-Minute materials. Praise the Lord! Translating Precept Materials 40-Minute Study Series in Vietnamese We always start translation with the 40-Minute series. It requires no homework and is easier to transfer leadership principles and lead small groups. After several 40-Minute studies, we move on to the NISS (New Inductive Study Series). The PUP (Precept Upon Precept) series, with its depth of study and additional resource requirements (e.g., Bible dictionaries, commentaries), is widely available in English but limited in Asian languages. The work of translation has evolved and is ever ongoing. Translations are done, tested, and piloted in their native countries. Just the 40-Minute series alone has 30 titles! The demand for translating Precept materials exceeds what voluntary translators can handle, making paid engagement of translators necessary. To date, we have translated materials into Chinese (simplified and traditional), Malay, Vietnamese, Khmer, and Japanese. Isn’t it exciting that translation work into Indonesian has begun this year? 40-Minute Study Series in Chinese Our most translated material is in Chinese, available for purchase on our online bookstore . 🆕 Exciting News : How to Lead the 40-Minute Series in Chinese  workshop happening on 28 April 2025 . Sign up today ! Seed Funding To get these translated materials out, Precept Singapore provides seed money—funds for the first translation and the first print. The proceeds from sales of the first print contribute to printing the next book and paying translators. Partnership Support We are blessed as a ministry to have support in our regional outreaches. Precept participants, leaders, and some churches bring Precept materials during their mission trips and train people in inductive Bible study. How You Can Support Our Regional Work Funding: Your generosity not only sustain our office but helps fuel our regional outreach and its expenses. Purchase with Purpose: The proceeds from our nominally charged study materials support seed funds, financial aid and trainings. Be a partner: On a mission trip? Bring Precept materials to help others know God and grow their faith through His Word. Precept Study Tour A Brief History 🇮🇱 Israel: The Beginning Our journey began with the Israel tour in 2006, aiming to connect what people study and read with what they can see in the land. Israel was our focus, and so Stephen thought,"that was it—study tours to Israel." 🇬🇷 Greece: Expanding Horizons But God had other plans. After 10 years, He inspired Stephen to consider Greece, in line with Paul’s missionary journey. In 2017, he embarked on a reconnaissance trip, and by 2018, we kicked off our Greece study tour. It went very well, extending our mission from Israel to Greece. 🇹🇷 Turkey: From ‘No’ to ‘Yes’ Our Lord's plan didn’t stop at Greece. In 2021, Stephen joined a trip to Turkey, initially to confirm his reservations about the seven churches, with firm resolution to say, "been there, done that, it’s a NO." However, seeing Turkey with his own eyes changed everything. Beyond rocks and ruins lies the New Testament, and he realized Turkey is essentially the New Testament. This trip led to the design of ‘The Acts of the Apostles and the Seven Churches of Revelation’ tour. 2024 Study Tours: Brink of Cancellation Our very first Turkey Study Tour finally happened! 🇹🇷 Turkey Study Tour (27 April to 10 May 2024):  Originally planned for 2023 but canceled due to an earthquake, we were optimistic about 2024. Registrations came in slowly, just scraping past the minimum. In hindsight, it was a blessing—a perfect group for our inaugural tour. It went well, and we learned a lot from our guide. 🇬🇷 Greece Study Tour (15 September to 25 September 2024):  This tour faced near-cancellation. By God’s grace, two sign-ups came through at the last moment, meeting the minimum. We ended up with 29 participants, and it turned out to be a wonderful group. By His Grace, We Peaked! After walking on tightropes for both tours, we released our Turkey Tour 2025 on 21 October with minimal expectations. Astonishingly, we reached full capacity within 3 ½ weeks! This journey felt like bungee jumping, held securely by God’s retractable rope. Only He can turn uncertainties into soaring success. 💡 Did you know? Reaching the minimum number is crucial for fulfilling financial commitments to our tour agent. Proceeds from the tours contribute to our ministry and regional outreach. Pre-register for our tours to be the first informed upon release! Connecting to Scriptures, Lives Transformed Even after 18 years, Stephen's passion for these tours remains unwavering. Balancing three tours, regional outreaches, conducting workshops, and leading classes, he meticulously curates each tour booklet, itinerary, and devotional material to enrich participants' spiritual journey. Bringing people to these historical sites to connect with Scripture is always exciting. We have witnessed lives transformed spiritually—these tours are a time of reflection, conviction, encouragement, and confirmation. They are spiritually encouraged and convicted, wanting to be closer to God and to know His Word more deeply. And that’s great! Our passion is to get people into the Word, and these tours connect people to Scripture. These tours connect people to Scripture, transforming lives through reflection, conviction, encouragement, and confirmation. Technological Advancements and Challenges This year, our ministry underwent significant technological advancements. We overhauled our website to integrate an online store, class registrations, and credit card payments. Despite interface limitations, delays, and tech hiccups, we trusted in the Lord's timing, and the launch was successful without major disruptions. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Getting support for non-profits in Singapore proved challenging due to limited market share, and we faced higher rates compared to larger countries. However, we are grateful for every benefit secured--no matter how big or small. 💡 Fun fact: NPOs face stringent legitimacy checks. Can’t get more legit than that! Digital Standstill and Social Media Setbacks Despite advancements, we remain unable to provide digital versions of our materials. Our social media experienced setbacks twice: first on Instagram, then on Facebook, as Meta’s AI flagged us as ‘imposters.’ Maybe our branding was just too good! Although we re-established our Facebook page, it remains unapologetically neglected. We trust in God's direction, not worldly trends and bots, thus no TikTok either. No jiggling challenges for us! Grace in the Valleys: Our Workshops 2024 in a Glance A Promising Start We began the year with high hopes and a modest yet encouraging intake for our 'Lead a Bible Study' workshops. January saw a promising start with more than 10 participants. Wandering and Wondering in the Wilderness However, from February to October, we found ourselves wandering in the wilderness of workshops. Sign-ups were unimpressive, with some workshops canceled and others teetering on the brink. The standout was our D4Y, which had strong intakes in January and July. D4Y | Discover4Yourself: Teaching Children to Study the Bible Inductively, July 2024 A Divine Turnaround Just when doubts loomed and some year-end workshops faced cancellation, God intervened. We witnessed a sudden surge in enrollments, with many new participants and a few returning for refreshers. Our 'How to Study the Bible' workshop saw many new to Precept study. We raise a Hallelujah! Essential Skills Workshops: The Valleys and Peaks The Essential Skills Workshops aim to provide firm foundations in inductive Bible study and additional skills to enhance understanding. One of the low points of 2024 was the "Study the Bible" and "Word Study" workshops, but God catapulted us to success. The 'Study the Bible' workshop ended with 36 participants. Despite canceling the evening session, the morning session of the Word Study scraped past the minimum. Praise the Lord! Lead a Bible Study Workshops: Raising the Next Generation of Leaders A prevalent need is raising new leaders to lead Precept classes, with about 1,800 to 2,000 participants. While the decline in young adults stepping up to lead is concerning, we are grateful for our faithful leaders who have held on, some for over a decade. How to Plan and Lead PUP Lessons, May 2024 From Zero to Hero The 'Lead a Bible Study' workshops experienced a divine turnaround similar to the Essential Skills workshops. A sudden spike in enrollments saw 21 participants for the online PLPUP, with about 50% being regional participants, and 13 participants for the HTL40M in November. Praise the Lord for this much-needed encouragement. We are grateful for every participant, new and returning, who joined us on this path. We do not take for granted this crazy good ending for 2024, and we ask for prayers for those yet to encounter His Word. Young Adults (YA) Classes It’s rare we are at a loss for words, but none too intelligible emerged with “YA”, and occasional sounds of 'erm' quivered through the void. We launched our first YA classes in 2019, but they only took off in 2020. Yes, that Covid year. We rejoiced when over 200 YAs enrolled through those two years. The Core of Change: Scripture and Relationship with God At the heart of Precept Ministries, we believe true change—personal relationship with God—comes from Scripture. Not just for YA, but for all ages. Why? Ephesians 4:14 and 2 Timothy 4:3-4. One cannot know God without knowing His Word. Scripture guides you toward God. Precept guides you through Scripture. Know God Deeply. Live Differently. Post-Covid Wilderness: Decline and Determination Post-Covid, numbers declined. A YA leader quipped, “My class has been in the wilderness since 2023.” In 2024, this leader had to cancel a class midway. A faithful remnant of 15% has remained, and we keep the 85% in our prayers, hoping they remain engaged in God’s Word. From Low to Hope: A New Beginning Although the decline of our YA classes easily took the crown for the low-of-the-lows moment of 2024, it was not without its glimmer of hope. After much time spent on the white throne of thoughts, a new Wednesday class emerged in September, using the 40-Minute Study Series. Though a small and cozy group, it has indeed been a blessing, ending our 12 weeks of study with a nice fellowship dinner. We are also delighted to have created a new sub-group to delve deeper into Scripture using PUP materials. Praise the Lord! Encouraging the Journey: 2025 and Beyond On this note, we persist in encouraging our dear YA to resume their inductive Bible study journey. Come 2025, we have classes on all three levels—PUP, NISS, and 40-Minute Study Series. Like a broken record, we would say, stay connected but not disconnected with God's Word. Getting Back to the Heart of Precept Inductive Bible Study Our advocacy for Precept inductive Bible study is not just about the materials but about equipping others to engage in personal Bible study effectively—a lifelong skill. There’s nothing more powerful than reading the testimonies of our directors, who began as Precept participants before taking active roles as trainers for over two decades. Looking at them, and even many other faithful Bible expositors globally, it ought to leave one to wonder, "Am I missing a point about the Word of God?" With this, we share the words of Stephen Lim and Timothy Tan on how Precept inductive Bible Study has impacted their lives: Stephen Lim, Outreach Director "I've been to Bible school. I've had theological training. I know doctrines and all that, but there's a lot of head knowledge. Precept was life-changing because I was going to the Scriptures, and Scripture was jumping out at me and changing my life.I know the Scriptures, I know the teaching, not because of what I read or what I studied, but because I was going into the Word myself to study for myself. And that changed me. This is why we feel that Precept Bible study is very good because it is a life-changing Bible study. You're brought into the Word of God to interact with the Word of God, interact with God Himself, and He teaches you, tells you, convicts you, and encourages you. This is why we have always recommended Precept. Stephen began his Precept journey in 1991 and attended all the Bible study classes at Precept Ministries International, Chattanooga, until 1996. He began leading Precept classes in 1996 and started his regional outreach in 2000 before adding the Bible study tours to his portfolio. Timothy Tan, National Director "It's just one key point. When I do Precept study, I need to mark the key words. I found that by marking the key words, it helps me to see the main point in the passage and get the main message that God wants to tell us. That's the thing that keeps me going. The impact on my life is seeing what God is trying to say; it helps to direct me, informs me how I should lead my life, not based on what I think or interpret. So, the transformation is being careful to live my life closely to God's Word." Timothy began his Precept journey in the early 1980s when PUP material was first introduced into his church, even before Precept Singapore became Precept Singapore. He is currently still leading Precept classes and our workshops. What’s Next for 2025? There's so much we would like to tell you, but this newsletter cannot contain it all.
